Due to the special use environment of medical devices, we have special requirements for their precision, safety, smoothness, and sanitary conditions. Therefore, when manufacturing medical devices, we must strictly require manufacturers from the source. In the process of metal medical equipment processing, the traditional sheet metal mechanical cutting processing mode has great shortcomings in terms of accuracy, safety, and controllability. The replacement of the traditional processing method by the fiber laser cutting machine is an inevitable trend of the industry.
First, laser cutting meets the requirements of precision, safety, and finish in the medical profession. Fiber laser cutting uses a high-power-density laser beam to scan the surface of the material, heating the material to thousands to tens of thousands of degrees Celsius in a very short time so that the material melts or vaporizes. The high-pressure gas is then used to blow away the molten or gasified material from the slit to achieve the purpose of cutting the material. This extremely high temperature ensures the possibility of not being contaminated twice during the processing of the instrument. In addition, the cut surface finish of the processed material is very good, which can meet the requirements of one-time moulding, and avoid two or more re-processing after the material is moulded, causing time and material loss.
Secondly, from the workpiece itself, medical devices are very different from other mechanical parts. It requires very high precision without any deviations, and laser cutting machines can meet these processing requirements well when cutting equipment.
In addition, the cutting slit produced by laser cutting is very narrow, the laser beam is focused into a small light spot so that the focal point reaches a high power density, the material is quickly heated to the degree of vaporization, and the holes are formed by evaporation. With the relatively linear movement of the light beam and the material, a narrow slit is continuously formed in the hole, and the width of the slit is generally 0.10-0.20mm. Extremely small slits ensure high cutting accuracy.
The production process of the laser cutting machine is a non-contact process. The laser cutting head will not contact the surface of the processed material, and the workpiece will not be scratched. For medical devices, surface smoothness is the most basic requirement. If the surface grinding process of the device products can be minimized during the processing, the production efficiency will be greatly improved.
